Dental implant can be considered as an artificial root, which is a cylindrical shaped tool that is placed in bone to hold the fixed or removable dental prosthesis and manufactured from medical grade titanium.

Tooth implants are used to support the prosthesis in place of missing tooth or teeth and to help the oral tissues function longer. Dental implants have been used for many years and are among the routine treatment methods with high success rates. When appropriate care is provided, it is expected to remain in the mouth for life long.

Application of dental implants is usually done with local anesthesia (as in tooth extraction). It can be used when missing single tooth or multiple/complete edentulism.
