Digital dental volumetric tomography uses a different technique than spiral tomography used in medical facilities and uses less X-ray dose. In this method, three-dimensional image of the bone is obtained. The 3D image of the soft tissue (such as pharyngeal region) can also be displayed. This feature is especially using for sleep apnea patients. With this device, it is possible to visualize the both jaw and face up to 13×15 cm in size. Even the root canals can be displayed in the high resolution setting.

While imaging is obtained, the patient’s bone density is measured, and the patient does not receive unnecessary doses because the customised X-ray dose is applied.

This method is also used for other indications such as temporomandibular joint disorders, cyst / tumor, digital implant planning.
